LRPAD:iPad Multi-Touch Controller

LRPAD iPad is a Lightroom app that lets you control your Mac or PC. Install the application, and then grab a free Lightroom plugin that works as a go-between, and you can make most aspects of your pictures using the sliders on the iPad, aos touch screen. Lightroom is Adobe, aos RAW photo editing software, and goes against Apple Aperture aos. Both are great, and both work quite differently. I prefer Lightroom and the Canon PIXMA MX350.

What you use, you still have to click and fiddly controls on the screen, or drag a lot of shortcuts, or both to learn. LRPAD take this awkward switches and replace them with the finger-sized strips that can be touched and dragged. You get access to all components that run down the right side of the Lightroom screen when in the Develop module, and they are in familiar order: Basic, detail, color, and Camera Metadata. You can tweak saturation, sharpness, lens correction, exposure, AI and more. It feels very natural to slide slide like this, and in combination with shortcuts you Äôll fairly rapid results.

Quickly but not immediately. The iPad app talk to your Mac or PC via Wi-Fi network. I have a good strong network with 802.11n-enabled devices connected only one, and there is a slight delay between setting something on the iPad and seeing the effect on the screen. If you AORE used to Lightroom, you Äôll a good idea of how much tweaking an institution, but immediate results would be better to try out new effects.

The setup is a bit awkward. Although apparently the plugin advertises itself on the local network via Bonjour, you still have the network address of the computer manually add to the iPad app. You may be the app and / or Lightroom again a few times before they see each other, too.

LRPAD costs $ 10. That would be a steal if it’s a little faster, and if it shows me my own custom layouts to make the buttons to the group the most frequently used controls on a screen. It should also give access to my Lightroom presets, on-screen and a tone curve adjustment. It also adds to the keyword LRPAD metadata of pictures you edit it, that’s pretty brutal. Still, I like it, and it is only a few weeks old. Hopefully updates will be even handed. If not? Well, it, AOS is still cheaper than a roll of film.

A company called CONVAR introduced an interesting line of external hard drive at CeBIT 2011. Potter called bytes, the case of the disc has a hole with a transparent lid on the platters, so users see both the platters and the actuator arm in action. That is not the only feature that makes the bytes potter unique, and depending on your taste and budget, the other function may be a deal breaker are – various parts of the case are customizable, allowing you a unique, albeit bulky external hard drive.

Unfortunately the picture above shows the covers just as they are, the names of the covers are actually printed on the covers IE itself, in my opinion an unnecessary decoration. Other parts of the case which can be adapted to the bottom that can be made from cherry, walnut or iron and the grills and wires.

New Pentax Optio S1

Pentax Optio everyday S1 is lucky to be announced one day when no other cameras on the news radar. It is also very usable, very cute and has a nice feature that makes it worth a look. The specs: 14 megapixels, a 2.7-inch LCD screen, a 5x zoom (28-140mm equivalent), video recording at 720p, blink detection and sensor-shift stabilization.

 New Pentax Optio S1

The cuteness: It comes in several colors (including an ugly turquoise), but the real cuteness is its simple styling. The smooth-edged, boxy design reminds me of a 1990 year old Konica 25mm compact I had a fantastic – and small – camera at the time. The S1 is a camera you can easily in your pocket and forget.

And the cool feature like on EPSON WorkForce 520 Printer Review? You can cause the camera with an infra-red remote control. You must be purchased separately, and it would be better if the camera makers would just put a threaded hole in the shutter as they did with film cameras, but a remote is a handy thing to have. The S1 will be available this month for $ 200.
