The Brother HL-4570CDW color laser wireless printer targeted at small businesses and workgroups. It is a heavy-duty printer (seriously – which is about 46 pounds on the printer) that offers many business-friendly features. And in the price range (close to $ 500), it’s a decent value for companies that regularly, but not print in large volumes. Those who print a lot will probably choose to add on a high-capacity (500 sheets) paper tray, and to upgrade to the high-yield toner cartridges do.

The printer is fairly easy to set, though small, yellow LCD screen is hard to read from any angle. Wireless set up was more difficult – there’s no keyboard and the process can not be done via the web interface if possible with other Brother printers. Adding a wireless password was a laborious process that makes use of an arrow to scroll through the special characters and numbers involved before they go to the uppercase alphabet, and if you a letter, you have much more to scroll to do. Yet it is a one-time deal.

Once it was up and running, it has a great job. First pages for small jobs took about 11 seconds to get out, with pages flying off in less than three seconds per page thereafter. Larger jobs (such as large PDF files) lasted longer in the workforce, with the first pages of at least 18 seconds (these pages still took about three seconds).

Color and monochrome prints looked very good and there was only a minimal paper curl, so as always, I’d suggest that you use paper specifically for laser printers.

Verdict

For small businesses and workgroups looking for a heavy-duty color laser printer, the Brother HL-4570CDW offers many benefits, including wireless, automatic duplex printing, and fast printing. Be warned that it will take a lot of space, and if you print a lot you want to upgrade to the high-yield toner cartridges. I found the USB slot on the right front of the machine. Built-in wireless was fairly easy to set, though the printer’s small LCD screen and difficult to manage interface that set up the wireless feature something of a chore. You also need a separate 500-sheet paper tray fits now.
